Found an excellent plug spanner on eBay, sold by The tool academy the eBay listing number is 360911896495 , the description of the spanner is "Magnetic 10mm Spark Plug Socket 3/8 Drive Extra Long Thin Wall 250mm Long" at £18. 49 it is a bit more expensive than some of the more conventional alternatives but it is very well made, the magnet holds the plug firmly in place, the socket grips it well and the thin wall construction and extra length makes it ideal for dealing with the 2 Litre's plugs, wish I had found something like this years ago even if it did take me a while to find a way to get the plastic plug out of the 3/8 drive end, gripped it with a pliers to get it out in the end!
