As I have just ordered some 2 inch fuel filler pipe from the above company I thought it may be worth a mention as being primarily a supplier to the kit and custom car sector of the market they not be an obvious choice for someone working on a Bristol.
They carry a very wide range of products which are also of use to the home restorer and have a good website and catalogue with useful tips on how to get the best out of some of their products.

Keith if you need the early back shells for the headlights they are often advertised on eBay, other car part/ classic car parts and search Bristol. They seem very good quality.
The back shells for the outer lamps are available from Holden Vintage in Bromyard, they are reasonable quality, the pressings are not as thick as the main lamps but might be the originals were like that as well as they always seem badly rusted on the 401’s.

Thanks for pointing out the earlier post, I have purchased a set of your back shells for the main lights off ebay last year, the shells for the outer lamps I got from Holdens some years ago for another car and if there are other parts I need when we get to the fit up I shall certainly be in touch, am not sure but I suspect I will need at least one main lamp re silvering as well.

There sadly does not seem to be much activity on any of the forums, everything is happening so slowly on the new car front and there only seem to be a few of us active in renovations/restorations at the moment and asking for help advice or ideas.
The other thing that I have noticed that despite there being a lot of features on Bristol cars in the classic car magazines over the last 18 months very few people comment on that any more or give casual buyers of these publications the heads up that there is something interesting available.
Its a pity because there is a lot going especially with this club where members are working quite hard on sourcing parts to help keep us on the road.

You two sound as though you know what you are talking about when it comes to headlamps! What bulbs do you recommend for improving the rather poor (by today’s standards) output of the 401 headlights? – and other lights while I’m at it.
