Adding images is in fact quite simple!

You just have to scroll to the bottom of the new mail where it says "Upload files" and continue from there. This will insert the image at the bottom of the mail. Give it a try!

You can insert up to 5 images or pdf files.

Ignore the icon in the menu bar at the top which says "Insert/edit image" which you can only use if your image is somewhere online.

I admit it confused me at first and is not ideal. However the developer of the software is continually improving it and has this on his to-do list.
