Bristol 400 spare wheel
Quote from Rob Homewood on 7 July 2025, 13:12I have finally got round to replacing the decrepit 20 plus year old tyres supplied on my 400 with 4 new. They are Michelin X 5.50 R16. However I am still stuck for a spare wheel. The 4 road wheels are 4.5" rims having been changed from the original 3.5" crossply rims at some point. These wont of course fit the spare wheel compartmenet and I am struggling to find a suitable 3.5" rim or a slim spacesaver modern wheel. The problem with the latter is that there seems to be no way of ensuring the spacesaver will fit the hubs and bolts properly without trying it, which means purchasing one blind. I have had no luck with finding a 3.5" rim either. I have no intention of using the spare except in dire emergency so I could even use a crossply for that purpose, although I know one shouldn't.
Can anyone help please?
Alternatively can anyone advise any spacesaver make/model known to fit the hubs and also the boot space?
regards
Rob
