Hi one and all have a couple of reprinted workshop manuals for the 401 but none of them seem to show any thing regarding body rubbers or fittings is there any one that may have one that has and can copy the page for me pleas I  need to renew most of the rubber parts have found bumper trim ok plus window front ok  Need bonnet bump  stops + Rubber. ? boot rubber and      door rubbers    Any thoughts on these parts  thanks Keith Ardley

Keith,

If you contact Bill Lawson or John Lawley they should be able to sort out most of the rubber seals you need, I have recently bought from the club the outer seals for the doors and the rear side windows and front screen, A while back I bought the rubber finishers that go under the bonnet but the bump stops came from eBay and I have not seen them listed for a while. I have never had a 401 or 403 that has had a boot rubber on it , were they ever fitted?

Thanks for information I seem to remember a sponge type seal in the U shape around the boot opening which the boot lid closed on to ? by the now have the car at home freshly painted and trimmed still loads of detailing to do !!!

Hi Geoff can you supply address or contact details pleas for  me thanks again you have been a good help to me with things Keith

Hi Keith,

Sent you the contact details for Bill and John to your gmail address.

Geoff.

Hi Guys, I have never used the forum before but I see that you are talking about rubber trims and seals. For my 1956 405, I need to get a set of front and rear door seals, plus the unusual, wide weatherstrip that fits on the outer side of the rear windows.  I also want to find out what the lower door trims that carry the furflex seals should look like.  Landrover type aluminium was fitted on the lower parts of my doors and from an old handbook I think they should be some form of wood panels.  Pictures of the inner doors from a 405 owner would be very useful.  If anybody can help I will be much obliged.  Peter Collins

Hi Peter,

Here are some pictures of the seals on my 405. Maybe that helps, if not I can take some more

Hi Richard, It is so nice to hear from you.  If the rubbers are not glued on, please would it be possible to unclip a piece from the door edge and photograph it so that I can see the shape of the extrusion that I have to source?  The other unknown for me is what the nature of the panel is that screws to each door below the leather trim panel.  My car was fitted with alloy panels of the type that they screw onto Landrover wings and I am sure that isn't correct.  A copy of a manual that I have refers to wood.  Please would it be possible to take photos of the lower part of the front and rear doors so That I can see what I have to make/source?

It looks as though your car is the same colour as mine, but mine has black seats.

Thanks so much for responding.

Kind regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

The seals are well and truly fixed. However although the work was done over 10 years ago, I have found the invoice for them. They are IRS 0963N and IRS 01452EP from COH Baines  who have a vast range of different seals. However you might also contact the @bristoloda.org">BODA/Pegasus technical team to see what they suggest. Also Spencer Lane-Jones in Warminster might have a suggestion.

Here are a couple of pictures of the bottom of my doors, front & rear. There is an patterned alu panel.

Good luck

Richard

Peter,

Here are a couple of photos of a works photo of the area in question. I notice that mine is missing the seals at the bottom of the door. Not so important I think
